As Fall takes off, we really don’t have a lot of drama as far as planetary transits and retrogrades. Some might call it a benign month astrologically, but prepare for a few bumps during the month. Both Venus and Mars will be transiting signs that are not compatible with their energy. It’s called the “Detriment” position and it means that the energies of these two planets will find difficulty when it comes to expressing their energy. Remember, Venus is what we want and Mars is how we go about getting what we want, so look for some indecision regarding what is wanted, and some slowdown in how fast these goals are accomplished. In other words, while the month is benign, develop some patience and you’ll do just fine!
Mercury enters Scorpio: Mercury moving in the passionate, emotional, and fixed sign of
Scorpio suggests that the mental tone around us will display these
qualities. Mercury is about how we connect with the world around us, and
share communication, so there is likely to be more to what meets the eyes (or
ears!), while this planet travels through Scorpio.
We will all probably need to peel back a few onion layers in order to get the ‘truth’ during this time! The sign of Scorpio doesn’t just trend toward privacy, it is passionate about privacy and its secrets. That doesn’t necessarily indicate there is “something to hide”, it only indicates that people will want to keep things private during this time. That’s not a crime; it’s human nature.
10/5/19 Mars enters Libra [Detriment]: Astrologically, Mars represents how we assert our will and power. As Mars transits through each of the signs of the zodiac over a two-year period, we have an opportunity to experience, and express different aspects, or qualities of will. During Mars’ transit through the fire signs: Aries, Leo and Sagittarius we experience strong will, which is energetic, dynamic and expansive.
Mars in Libra is in detriment and not the best placement for Martian energy—at least not for the individual. However, it is a good time to focus energy on partners, colleagues, family and friends, as in Libra the energy is well spent on “others”, instead of “Self”.
With Mars in Libra our energy and will is focused on creating greater balance in our lives. Although the sign of Libra is often depicted as somewhat passive, the truth is that Libran energy is quite strong. Libra is Cardinal, it initiates the Autumn, and as such it is as strong as any other Cardinal sign, although it may express its strength is more cooperative ways.
Mars in Libra, in particular, is the champion and defender of justice, and can be quite bold and outspoken when things become unjust. While Mars is in Libra we become the adjudicators or arbitrators of justice in our lives; speaking out against any injustice that is pulling us out of balance.
10/9/19 Venus enters Scorpio [Detriment]: With Venus in Scorpio we are almost forced to pay attention to the deepest parts of who we are. The secrets we keep hidden even from ourselves. Scorpio represents our shadow; the powerful emotions of rage, anger, jealously, sexual intensity, and grief that most people find difficult to deal with.
Venus in Scorpio asks us to integrate these “taboo” areas into the heart of who we are. This is a time when people will assess how open they feel in expressing the Scorpio force in relationships. Venus in Scorpio is a time to be in touch with emotional depths; to explore how to access and release more aliveness and vitality in relationships with others.
Sun enters Scorpio: The ruler of Scorpio
is Pluto [yes, even though it was demoted from being a planet]. Prior to the
discovery of the ninth planet, Scorpio was ruled by Mars, which is still
considered co-ruler. The sign of cosmic purpose, Scorpio
is considered the success sign. Self-contained, self-centered, and concentrated,
Scorpios usually succeed in what they set out to accomplish.
Scorpios are known for their intense and powerful natures. They are willful, proud, and calm, with an electrifying undercurrent of seething intensity. Purposeful and animated with force, they project a magnetic personality.
Their demeanor is dignified and reserved, affable and courteous, and many have a gaze that is both direct and penetrating. Their secretive natures make them natural detectives. Many Scorpios possess a suspicious outlook, and need to know the reasons behind everything everyone else is doing while refusing to divulge any information about what the Scorpio is doing. It’s an interesting conundrum. Scorpio does nothing in half measures. An all or nothing attitude permeates their entire life. When fixed on something or someone, the scorpion perseveres. Scorpio never settles. Life is meant to be lived to the fullest or not at all.
Scorpio will rarely be found in the center of activity, but will always know just what is going on. Their tenacity and willpower are enviable; their depth of character and passionate conviction admirable, but it is their deep sensitivity that makes them the best and most loyal friend. This same quality makes them the most dangerous of enemies. There is no middle ground with a Scorpio.
Their sensitivity, and pride allow them to be easily hurt,
quick to feel insult or injury, even when none is intended, and easily roused
to heights of anger. An angry Scorpio is a sight to see. Unlike Leo, who can
have a temper tantrum and five minutes later be quite, Scorpio seethes, and
doesn’t give it up. It is a Scorpio that
can harbor a resentment for an entire life.
The saying, “revenge is a dish best served cold”, is a perfect example
of the Scorpio nature. They can wait a
lifetime to settle a score.
When they harness their abundant energy constructively, their self-confidence tempered with shrewdness, and their ambition coupled with generosity toward others, they excel at whatever they undertake. Scorpios are demanding of others, but never ask someone to do what they would not do themselves. They can be fanatically focused and work till they drop, and ask the same of those around them. Again, no middle ground for a Scorpio, it’s all or nothing. It is both admirable and frustrating for those around a Scorpio.
Scorpio imagination and intuition are excellent. They possess refined critical perception and strong analytical ability. In addition, they seem to demonstrate a natural healing power. These abundant gifts allow Scorpions to penetrate the most profound subjects. They are serious folk, but quite charming to people they like, and when social events call for it. Their tragic flaw is their immense pride. Once wronged, once Scorpio’s pride has been diminished, the game of courtesy is over.
Their inner intensity can result in the ice-cold restraint and detachment of the surgeon, the concentration of the research scientist, and the heroism of the soldier. Any profession in which analysis, investigation, research, or dealing with the solving of mysteries are present, appeals to Scorpio. Police and detective work, espionage, the law, physics, or psychology are attractive professions to the Scorpio. As writers and orators they excel. The Scorpio character is the one you see up on the podium delivering “fire and brimstone” speeches. They succeed because they communicate the power of their convictions.
Simply put, for the Scorpio, there is no half measure. It’s all in or all out. There are no shades of gray with a Scorpio!
That’s it for the month of October. Once again, I thank you all for being out there. Please drop me a line if you have any questions!
