I’ll admit I spend far too much time on the internet. A lot of it is research for my book and work, but I play as well. What with how algorithms work if you watch one reel or video about toxic masculinity you get flooded with thousands.
Well, I’ve reached my tolerance on this topic, so I’m going to write about what masculine and feminine energy really is. NOT what culture tells us. It’s simpler for me because I’m an astrologer, and a great portion of astrology is understanding how masculine and feminine energy works. It’s also less insulting to any gender when you teach it this way, so here goes.
This topic is centuries old so don’t think we’ve discovered anything new. Any energy has a positive and negative expression. Let’s not get tied up in pointing a finger at a negative expression when we’re probably using a negative expression to point it out!
Jung’s anima/animus is a good place to begin in understanding the polarity of masc/fem energy. Or yin/yang is also a good place to go for instruction. The place NOT to go is to internet influencers who are projecting their negative energies onto an entire gender.
In Astrology I look at polarity almost from the beginning. Each sign and planet has a polarity of either masculine energy or feminine energy. I take a chart, and I simply add it all up. I’ll use my own chart as an example. I have 11 masculine placements, and 1 feminine placement. One!!! Does that make me like a man. No, you idiots. It doesn’t, I makes it difficult for me to express that energy, but it doesn’t make me like a man. WHY?? Because masculine energy resides in a female differently. Just as feminine energy resides differently in a male. We’re different and use energies differently. We are not a one size fits all.
Masculine energy: Considered positive energy, active, extroverted, and moving in nature. Assertive and independent. Outward directed
Feminine energy: Magnetic, passive, introverted, inward directed, the force from which all action arises. Negative energy. [and by negative energy I mean like electrical polarity. Masculine energy is the positive pole, and feminine energy is the negative pole.] [Please disregard the term positive and negative in any sort of judgmental form. It will only draw you back into cultural definitions instead of understanding how the damn energy works in reality.
I literally could go on forever on how much cultural definition of masculine and feminine don’t reveal anything significant about human nature. It is useless in fact if you want to understand yourself and others.
Scorpio is a negative polarity, feminine energy sign. You think a Scorpio male is in his feminine all the time? I married one and believe me, that is so not the case. [Trust me on this, I earned a astro-PHD is Scorpio males].
Aries is a positive polarity masculine energy sign. Do you think all Aries females are always in their masculine? Trust me, that’s not the case either.
But, both signs will exhibit qualities of the opposite energy. A Scorpio male is deeply in touch with his inner desires and emotions even if as a male he doesn’t express them to anyone but a trusted mate. An Aries woman will be fiercely independent and brave but will automatically surrender herself to a trusted leader. Notice I said trusted. She’s not submissive in the current cultural definition but will submit to a higher authority if trusted. Think of it line a chain of command. An Aries female will follow the chain of command, but never lose her independent streak. They are the warriors of the Zodiac and will follow legitimate orders like any good warrior. They are fierce mothers and tender in how they love, even if they are direct and not too subtle. See? The energy works differently in males and females, but the energy is still consistent with its nature.
People don’t live in their masculine energy or feminine energy. They ARE the energy. Stop thinking you can put a woman in her feminine by being in your masculine. It simply doesn’t work like that. It might work if a woman was already in her feminine energy, that would trigger masculine energy. It does not work the other way around. It’s why women do the choosing when it comes to mating and always have in any culture you want to study. The woman chooses because that’s where the integration of energy begins. It does not begin with the man declaring who his mate is. That’s also the source of male loneliness now, but that is a topic for another time. Just understand how the energy really works, not how you think it should work. Because the energy begins in the feminine. Not the other way around.
So, that’s a brief introduction to the world of polarity in astrology. I hope it helps in your daily lives, because there is a lot of really bad information out there.
